My kids just love to get holes in the knees of all their jeans. I’m talking every single pair I buy them. They somehow manage to get the holes in there no matter what. I even went so far as to try the reinforced knees on my kids pants, but with no such success to keeping away the holes. So I’ve come up with an elegant solution to my problem. I will always need to buy them new jeans, but I will never need to buy them shorts. Never, ever! I start by taking their torn and holey jeans and I fold them in half to see how even in height the holes are on each pant leg. Then I mark them on both legs where I’m going to cut. Yes, that’s right, cut. We’re going to cut the legs of the pants off just above where the holes in the knees are. Then once I’ve cut off the pant legs where I marked them, I unfold them and lay them out flat. Taking one leg of the now shorts, roll it up once nice and even, then roll it up again. Then I just put a few good stitches in the side where the seams of the now shorts are. Repeat that same process with the other leg. The best part is, you don’t have to be good at sewing to do this. And there you have it. Shorts! Simple, easy, and a money saver.
